Top Golf Courses Along the Causeway Coast and Beyond

Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coast is a golfer’s paradise, combining championship‑calibre links with dramatic Atlantic views.  Here’s our pick of the top courses, both along the coast and slightly inland.

Royal Portrush Golf Club – Dunluce & Valley Links

The jewel of the region, Royal Portrush’s Dunluce Links hosted The Open Championship in 2019 and welcomed the world again in July 2025 .  This legendary course sweeps along rugged cliffs with punishing rough and fast greens.  Its sister layout, the Valley Links, offers a slightly friendlier round but still showcases spectacular scenery .  Booking well in advance is essential, particularly during championship years.

Portstewart Golf Club – The Strand, Riverside & Old Courses

Just down the coast, Portstewart boasts three courses.  The Strand Course is famed for its towering dunes and panoramic Atlantic vistas – widely considered one of the finest links layouts in Ireland.  The Riverside and Old Courses offer more relaxed rounds for less experienced players but retain links character .

Castlerock Golf Club – Mussenden & Bann Courses

Separated from Portstewart by the River Bann, Castlerock features the championship Mussenden Course and the family‑friendly Bann Course .  Both provide true links golf with rolling fairways and sea views, making it a great stop for mixed ability groups.

Gracehill Golf Club

Set inland within the Dark Hedges Estate, Gracehill is a parkland course surrounded by ancient woodland .  Lakes and ponds add challenge and beauty.  It’s ideal if you want a break from links golf or are touring the famous Dark Hedges avenue.

Ballycastle & Ballyreagh Golf Clubs

Ballycastle Golf Club mixes links and parkland holes and lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty .  Nearby Ballyreagh Golf Club is a 9‑hole par‑3 course located right on the Causeway Coastal Route – perfect for a quick round with children or beginners.
